In December, cotton prices were among the lowest since 2020 due to persistently weak demand amid a market shift towards synthetics. Moreover, the U.S. Department of Agriculture cut its 2025/26 global consumption forecasts in December, with U.S. mill use—a proxy for consumption—seen at its lowest level in nearly 150 years.
