Soybean prices averaged USD 1,055 cents per bushel in May, up 2.5% from April. On 30 May, the commodity traded at USD 1,042 cents per bushel, up 0.7% from 30 April.
Soybean prices rose for the second consecutive month in May, the only major grain to trade higher in the period. The U.S. Department of Agriculture projected lower U.S. supply and higher demand in the 2025/26 marketing year versus 2024/25. Adverse weather stalled harvest in Argentina, likely lending support to prices. That said, a record Brazilian harvest and a 12-year low in Chinese imports capped the price increase.
