Soybean prices averaged USD 1,058 cents per bushel in January, down 1.7% from December. On 30 January, the commodity traded at USD 1,064 cents per bushel, up 3.3% from 31 December.
In January, average soybean prices fell to a three-month low. The USDA raised its projections for global supply in 2025/26 on higher production in Brazil and the U.S. plus larger ending stocks. Meanwhile, state-owned Chinese firms purchased more soybeans from the U.S. to meet Beijing’s prior pledge as part of a trade deal with Washington, but private companies are ramping up purchases from Brazil as an accelerating harvest is pushing prices below U.S. benchmarks, boding ill for demand for U.S. soybean exports.
