Aluminium prices averaged USD 2,880 per metric ton in December, up 2.2% from November. On 31 December, the commodity traded at USD 2,968 per metric ton, up 4.4% from 28 November.
Average aluminium prices extended their rally into a fourth month in December, climbing to the highest levels since April 2022. Early-month gains were underpinned by renewed demand optimism following Fed rate cuts. Supply concerns added further support: Limits on smelting capacity in China, coupled with production curbs in Europe driven by elevated electricity costs, have continued to erode global inventories.
