Molybdenum prices averaged USD 55,316 per metric ton in September, up 15.8% from August. On 30 September, the commodity traded at USD 59,525 per metric ton, up 8.0% from 29 August.
In September, prices rose at the fastest pace in 31 months, hitting an over two-year high. Survey data showed operating conditions in China’s manufacturing sector strengthened in September. Moreover, OPEC+ plans to hike oil output from November further boosted prices, as molybdenum is widely used in the hydrocarbon industry.
