Steel (Europe) prices averaged USD 658 per metric ton in August, up 2.0% from July. On 29 August, the commodity traded at USD 670 per metric ton, up 5.5% from 31 July.
Prices rose in August on a healthier demand backdrop. Survey data for the Euro area revealed that August’s manufacturing output growth was the fastest in 41 months. Meanwhile, the EU recently confirmed that the Cross-Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will come into effect in early 2026, dispelling rumors of a delay.
