Steel (Europe) prices averaged USD 775 per metric ton in February, up 4.3% from January. On 27 February, the commodity traded at USD 780 per metric ton, up 1.3% from 30 January.
Prices rose for a seventh straight month in February, reaching a two-year high and posting the best performance among base metals. The Cross-Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which came into effect on 1 January, drove the uptick. Rising tensions in the Middle East further supported prices toward the end of the month.
