Steel (USA) prices averaged USD 874 per metric ton in June, down 1.0% from May. On 30 June, the commodity traded at USD 880 per metric ton, up 4.8% from 30 May.
Prices jumped in early June after Trump hiked tariffs on U.S. steel imports from 25% to 50%. That said, the rise was short-lived as U.S. steel inventories remained elevated, demand for the metal was downbeat and the import requirement was lower than that of other metals such as aluminium.
