Steel (USA) prices averaged USD 983 per metric ton in February, up 4.2% from January. On 27 February, the commodity traded at USD 1,017 per metric ton, up 4.6% from 30 January.
In February, average prices rose for the fifth consecutive month, posting one of the best performances among the base metals complex. High import tariffs, extremely low temperatures in the U.S. disrupting shipments, and aggressive pricing by major producers supported steel prices.
