Coking coal prices averaged USD 197 per metric ton in November, up 3.1% from October. On 28 November, the commodity traded at USD 199 per metric ton, up 1.0% from 31 October.
As in October, Australian coking coal prices showed signs of recovery in November, likely aided by lower Chinese output amid government safety checks at mines. Still, prices of the fuel remain at post-pandemic lows, with demand from Chinese smelters still weak: China’s steel PMI lingered in contractionary terrain in November.
