Australian coking coal prices continued to recover in December, boosted again by lower Chinese output amid government safety checks at mines. Nonetheless, prices for the fuel linger at post-pandemic lows, with demand from Chinese smelters still soft, with China’s steel PMI in contractionary terrain in December.
