Coking coal prices averaged USD 247 per metric ton in February, up 6.2% from January. On 27 February, the commodity traded at USD 237 per metric ton, down 5.6% from 30 January.
Australian coking coal prices hit a 20-month high in February, partly due to weather-related disruptions at Australian mines and ports in January and early February. However, prices declined from mid-February, as demand softened during the Chinese New Year and expectations grew that supply would normalize in the near term.
