Diesel prices averaged USD 2.27 per gallon in August, down 5.4% from July. On 29 August, the commodity traded at USD 2.27 per gallon, down 5.4% from 31 July.
After hitting a 17-month high in July, diesel’s price premium over crude narrowed in August as the output of U.S. refiners as a share of capacity rose to the highest level since June 2018. Demand for the fuel may have also been hit by rising economic uncertainty and slowing economic growth in the U.S. due to Trump’s tariffs.
