Diesel prices averaged USD 2.45 per gallon in February, up 7.3% from January. On 27 February, the commodity traded at USD 2.63 per gallon, unchanged from 30 January.
Diesel’s average price premium over crude rose closer to November’s 26-month high in February, as inventories plunged due to heating and power demand during a harsh winter. The U.S.-Iran war poses a stark threat to the already-timid diesel supply, as the Middle East is a major producer of the fuel.
