Natural gas EU prices averaged USD 9.49 per MMBtu in December, down 9.0% from November. On 31 December, the commodity traded at USD 9.69 per MMBtu, down 1.1% from 28 November.
Average prices trended down further in December, reaching a 20-month low. Europe’s weather has been mild this winter, Norwegian gas supply has been reliable, and, in December, imports of liquified natural gas (LNG) from the U.S. soared a further 20% from the prior month.
