Uranium prices averaged USD 73.15 per pound in August, up 0.1% from July. On 29 August, the commodity traded at USD 76.40 per pound, up 6.9% from 31 July.
The average price in August was hit by a carry-over effect: The spot price declined in late July. In August, the spot price actually rose, nearing the seven-month high reached in June. Cameco said that it now expects to produce 20% less uranium than originally projected, and Kazatomprom said it would curtail output next year.
