Palladium prices averaged USD 1,734 per troy ounce in February, down 5.8% from January. On 27 February, the commodity traded at USD 1,793 per troy ounce, down 1.5% from 30 January.
In line with the rest of the precious metals complex, average palladium prices rose in January vs December, clocking the strongest end-of-month reading in over three years. Palladium prices rose on a strong debasement trade and safe-haven demand against a tense geopolitical backdrop. A weaker dollar also supported price gains, as investors have penciled in further U.S. monetary easing this year. The metal’s value fell in late January as investors booked profits and a new Fed chair was nominated.
