Angola: Inflation eases to a 10-month low in January
Latest reading: Inflation fell to 26.5% in January from December’s 27.5%. January’s figure marked a 10-month low. Tight financing conditions, improved consumer-goods supply plus renewed Central Bank intervention in FX markets supporting the kwanza have all contributed to a continued decline in inflation. That said, the paring back of fuel subsidies likely stemmed the overall decline in inflation and will likely keep it elevated ahead.
Still, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation rising to 28.6% in January (December: 28.2%).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 1.67 % over the previous month in January, which was below the 1.70% increase logged in December.
