Austria: Economic sentiment unchanged in September
Latest reading: Economic sentiment was unchanged at August’s 86.3 in September. Consequently, the index remained entrenched below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a downbeat near-term outlook for the economy.
On the one hand, sentiment in the retail and industrial sectors as well as among consumers deteriorated in the month. On the other hand, September noted healthier sentiment in the construction sector and stronger confidence in the services sector.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index rose in September.
