Austria: Economic sentiment falls in March
Latest reading: Economic sentiment dropped to 89.8 in March, down from February’s 91.1. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected soured sentiment in the industrial, construction and retail sectors. Moreover, confidence in the services sector waned in March. On the flip side, consumer sentiment improved.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index rose in March.
