Austria: Industrial output notches quickest growth in nearly two years in October
Latest reading: Industrial output grew 1.6% month on month in seasonally adjusted terms in October (September: -1.2% mom s.a.). The figure marked the best reading since February 2023. Looking at the details of the release, the upturn chiefly reflected a rebounding durable consumer goods production. Less positively, capital goods and non-durable consumer goods output swung into contraction.
On an annual basis, industrial production fell at a softer pace of 1.3% in October (September: -2.3% yoy), the best result since December 2023. Meanwhile, annual average variation of industrial production was unchanged, coming in at September’s 2.8% in October.
