Austria: Industrial output rebounds in September
Latest reading: Industrial output rose 0.8% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in September, which contrasted August’s 0.5% decrease. September’s turnaround was driven by a recovery in durable consumer goods output, a sharp upturn in non-durable consumer goods production and a softer decline in the intermediate goods subsector. That said, capital goods swung into contraction.
On an annual basis, industrial output fell at a softer pace of 0.4% in September (August: -2.2% yoy), the best result since December 2023. Accordingly, the trend improved, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 2.6% in September, up from August’s minus 2.7% reading.
