Austria: Harmonized inflation drops in March
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation came in at 3.1% in March, down from February’s 3.4%. The moderation was due to softer price growth for recreation and hospitality plus a decline in transport costs. Meanwhile, price growth for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a quicker rate.
In addition, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 2.7% in March (February: 2.8%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 2.9% in March from February’s 3.2%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.33% in March over the previous month, coming in below February’s 0.50% increase.
