Belarus: Inflation rises in March
Latest reading: Inflation increased to 5.9% in March from February’s 5.6%, rising further above the 5.0% upper bound of the government’s target. March’s figure was the joint-highest inflation rate since September 2024. Looking at the details of the release, the upturn reflected faster rises in food, hospitality and transport costs. On the flipside, price pressures for housing and textiles eased.
As a result, the trend pointed up slightly, with annual average inflation rising to 5.7% from 5.6% in February.
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.80% from the previous month in March, decelerating from the 1.30% increase seen in February.
