Belgium: Economic sentiment picks up in October but remains below threshold
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 92.6 in October from September’s 90.9. That said, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger sentiment in the construction and retail sectors. Moreover, confidence in the services sector and among consumers was healthier in October. That said, October saw declining sentiment in the industrial sector.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index fell in October.
