Belgium: Harmonized inflation declines to lowest level since March in August
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation eased to 4.4% in August from July’s 5.4%. August’s result marked the lowest inflation rate since March. The moderation was largely due to falling prices for transport plus easing price pressures for housing and utilities.
That said, annual average harmonized inflation rose to 2.7% in August (July: 2.5%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 2.9% in August from the previous month’s 3.6%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 1.52% over the previous month in August, swinging from July’s 0.62% fall. August’s figure was the highest reading since February.
