Bulgaria: Inflation drops to lowest level in over three years in September
Latest reading: Inflation came in at 1.2% in September, which was down from August’s 2.1%. September’s result marked the lowest inflation rate since March 2021. Looking at the details of the release, price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels eased, while transportation prices fell at a quicker pace in September compared to the previous month.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.2% in September (August: 3.6%). Meanwhile, harmonized inflation fell to 1.5% in September from the previous month’s 2.4%.
Lastly, consumer prices fell 1.04% in September over the previous month, swinging from the 0.12% increase seen in August. September’s result marked the weakest reading since June 2006.
