Bulgaria: Inflation declines to lowest level since April 2021 in August
Latest reading: Inflation eased to 2.1% in August, edging down from July’s 2.4%. August’s result represented the lowest inflation rate since April 2021. Looking at the details of the release, transportation prices dropped in August compared to the previous month, outweighing an uptick in price pressures for food plus housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.6% in August (July: 4.1%). Meanwhile, harmonized inflation fell to 2.4% in August from July’s 2.8%.
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.12% from the previous month in August, which was below the 0.83% rise recorded in July.
