Bulgaria: Inflation increases to over one-year high in February
Latest reading: Inflation ticked up to 4.0% in February, slightly above January’s 3.8%. February’s figure was the highest inflation rate since December 2023. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages plus housing and utilities increased at a faster pace. However, transportation price growth moderated.
The trend pointed up slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.5% in February (January: 2.4%). Meanwhile, harmonized inflation ticked up to 3.9% in February from the previous month’s 3.8%.
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.58% from the previous month in February, below January’s 2.03% increase.
