Canada: Inflation falls in November
Latest reading: Inflation ticked down to 1.9% in November from October’s 2.0%, slightly below market expectations and well within the Central Bank’s 1.0–3.0% target range. The result was primarily due to softer growth in prices for housing.
In addition, the trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.5% in November (October: 2.6%). Meanwhile, core inflation edged down to 1.6% in November from the previous month’s 1.7%.
Lastly, consumer prices were flat over the previous month in November, below the 0.43% rise recorded in October.
