Chile: Business confidence falls in November
Latest reading: Business confidence fell to 41.9 in November from October’s 46.3. November’s result marked the worst reading since December 2023. As such, the index remained below the 50-point threshold, indicating that businesses were pessimistic.
November’s reading was driven by a deterioration in sentiment in the mining and industrial sectors.
Pessimistic business confidence throughout 2024 has translated into weak fixed investment, which fell in the first three quarters of the year. While fixed investment should recover in 2025 as interest rates fall, business sentiment will likely remain capped by political fragmentation plus concerns over U.S. tariffs.
