Costa Rica: Economic activity growth eases in October
Latest reading: Economic activity expanded 3.3% compared to the same month of the previous year in October, which was a deterioration from September’s 3.7% increase. October’s figure was partly due to a deterioration in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector, as it recorded the weakest reading since May. In addition, manufacturing activity lost steam.
Meanwhile, annual average economic activity growth fell to 4.1% in October (September: +4.3%), which marked an over one-year low. On a monthly basis, economic activity fell 0.5% in seasonally adjusted terms in October, contrasting September’s 0.5% expansion and marking the worst result since March 2023.
