Costa Rica: Inflation stabilizes in February
Latest reading: Inflation was stable at January’s 1.2% in February. February’s reading was the joint-highest inflation rate since April 2023. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a quicker rate in February. However, prices for transportation dropped at a faster rate, and housing prices increased at a weaker pace.
The annual average variation of consumer prices was flat in February (January: -0.2%).
Finally, consumer prices fell 0.01% from the previous month in February, swinging from January’s 0.36% increase. February’s result marked the weakest reading since October 2024.
