Cyprus: Harmonized inflation declines in August
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation inched down to 2.2% in August, following July’s 2.4%. August’s reading marked the lowest inflation rate since April. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food non-alcoholic beverages increased at a more moderate rate in August. Moreover, prices for transportation dropped after rising in the previous month.
The trend was unchanged, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at July’s 2.6% in August. Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 1.5% in August from July’s 2.1%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.94% from the previous month in August, picking up from the 0.75% rise logged in July.
