Denmark: Manufacturing production escapes the doldrums in December
Latest reading: Manufacturing production returned to growth in December, rising 4.0% month on month in seasonally adjusted terms and contrasting November’s 4.6% decline. Looking at the details of the release, December’s recovery reflected rebounds in non-durable consumer goods—which account for around two-fifths of manufacturing output—and investment goods. On a seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing output bounced back 4.3% in December (November: -0.5% yoy). That said, annual average manufacturing production growth slowed to 8.6% in December (November: +8.9%), signaling a deteriorating trend in the manufacturing sector.
