Denmark: Inflation rises falls further below target in January
Latest reading: Inflation eased to 1.5% in January from December’s 1.9%, remaining below the 2.0% target of the ECB, whose monetary policy decisions Denmark follows due to the krone’s peg to the euro. Looking at the details of the release, a softer increase in food prices and declining textile costs outweighed faster price pressures for housing.
Still, the trend was unchanged, with annual average inflation coming in at December’s 1.4% in January. Meanwhile, core inflation edged down to 1.4% in January from the previous month’s 1.5%.
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.59% in January over the previous month, contrasting December’s 0.25% decline.
