Denmark: Inflation eases in March
Latest reading: Inflation eased to 1.5% in March from February’s 2.0%, marking the joint-lowest reading in six months. The result undershot the 2.0% target of the ECB, whose monetary policy decisions Denmark follows due to the krone’s peg to the euro. Looking at the details of the release, the slowdown was broad-based: Textile and transport prices fell, and costs for food and housing rose at a softer clip.
Still, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 1.6% in March (February: 1.5%). Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 1.6% in March from the previous month’s 1.8%.
Finally, consumer prices fell 0.50% in March over the previous month, swinging from February’s 1.00% increase, the lowest result since December 2023.
