Euro Area: Unemployment rate stabilizes in January
Latest reading: January’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate matched December’s downwardly revised 6.2% print, extending the 6.2% streak to four months.
As for the Eurozone’s largest economies, the unemployment rate stabilized in France and the Netherlands, rose in Germany and Italy, and fell in Spain.
Significant disparities in labor market conditions between members persist: Spain is the economy with the highest unemployment rate in January (10.6%), followed by Greece (9.3%). At the other end of the spectrum, Malta (3.0%) and Germany (3.5%) had the lowest unemployment rates.
