Finland: Current account surplus edges up in February
Latest reading: The current account posted a EUR 0.5 billion surplus in February, improving from the EUR 0.4 billion surplus posted in January (February 2024: EUR 0.2 billion deficit). Meanwhile, the 12-month trailing current account surplus deteriorated, coming in at EUR 1.9 billion in February (January: EUR 1.3 billion surplus).
The merchandise trade balance was stable at January’s EUR 0.7 billion surplus in February. Merchandise exports climbed 5.3% month on month in seasonally adjusted terms in February, swinging from January’s 4.2% fall. The figure marked the fastest increase since June 2024. Meanwhile, merchandise imports rose 2.9% on an annual basis in February (January: -3.5% yoy).
