Finland: Current account surplus rises in September
Latest reading: The current account recorded a EUR 1.1 billion surplus in September, improving from the EUR 0.6 billion surplus booked in August (September 2023: EUR 0.6 billion surplus). Meanwhile, the 12-month trailing current account surplus improved, coming in at EUR 0.7 billion in September (August: EUR 0.2 billion surplus).
The merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a EUR 1.0 billion surplus in September (August 2024: EUR 0.3 billion surplus). Merchandise exports rebounded 6.4% month on month in seasonally adjusted terms in September (August: -5.7% s.a. mom). Meanwhile, merchandise imports contracted 0.1% on a monthly basis in September (August: +0.2% s.a. mom).
