Finland: Monthly economic activity returns to growth in October
Latest reading: Economic activity escaped the doldrums in October, rising 0.4% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms and contrasting September’s 1.6% decline.
In working-day adjusted terms, the reading reflected a sharp rebound in services sector output. Less positively, the primary sector—which includes the agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing subsectors—and the secondary sector swung into contraction in October.
On a calendar-adjusted annual basis, economic activity contracted at a softer clip of 0.5% in October (September: -1.0% yoy). The trend was unchanged, with the annual average variation of economic activity coming in at September’s minus 1.0%.
