France: Economic sentiment deteriorates in April
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 96.4 in April from March’s 96.6. Consequently, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected waning confidence in the retail sector and among consumers. In contrast, there was healthier sentiment in the industrial, services and construction sectors.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index fell in April.
