France: Industrial activity dips in December
Latest reading: Industrial output declined 0.4% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in December, which contrasted November’s 0.1% increase. The weakening was largely due to a deterioration in manufacturing output and softer mining and quarrying growth.
On an annual basis, industrial production decreased 1.7% in December, which was below November’s 1.1% fall and marked the worst result since May. Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 0.4%, down from November’s minus 0.2% reading.
