Greece: Industrial output contracts at sharpest pace since November 2023 in August
Latest reading: Industrial output dropped 4.0% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in August, which contrasted July’s 1.3% increase. August’s figure marked the worst reading since November 2023. The notable weakening was partly driven by a deterioration in manufacturing output. In addition, electricity supply production weakened.
On an annual basis, industrial production grew 3.1% in August, which was notably below July’s 9.9% expansion and marking the worst result since March. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 6.1% in August (July: +5.8%). This signals an improving trend in the industrial sector.
