Indonesia: Inflation rises in December
Latest reading: Inflation ticked up to 1.6% in December, slightly above November’s 1.5%. Looking at the details of the release, food prices grew at a quicker rate. On the other hand, housing and utilities costs rose at a steady pace, recreation price growth softened and transport prices swung into decline.
Annual average inflation fell to 2.3% in December (November: 2.4%). Meanwhile, core inflation was unchanged, coming in at November’s 2.3% in December.
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.44% in December over the previous month, accelerating from November’s 0.30% rise. December’s result was the sharpest increase in prices since March.
