Indonesia: Retail sales growth dips in September
Latest reading: Retail sales rose 4.7% compared to the same month of the previous year in September, which followed August’s 5.8% increase. September’s softer rise was due to a deterioration in food, beverages, and tobacco sales plus sharper drops in sales of cultural and recreation goods and information and communication equipment. In contrast, motor vehicles, parts and accessories sales gained steam.
Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth rose to 3.1% in September (August: +2.9%), signaling an improving trend in the retail trade sector.
