Indonesia: Retail sales growth eases in January
Latest reading: Retail sales grew 0.4% year on year in January (December: +1.8% yoy). January’s outturn marked the worst reading since April 2024. The reading was partly due to a deterioration in food, beverages, and tobacco sales plus a deceleration in sales of motor vehicles, parts and accessories sales. That said, sales of cultural and recreation goods plus information and communication equipment strengthened.
Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth fell to 3.0% in January (December: +3.1%), which marked a ten-month low.
