Indonesia: Merchandise exports increase at a faster pace in February
Latest reading: Merchandise exports shot up 14.6% year-on-year in February (January: +3.1% year-on-year). The result marked the strongest expansion since September 2022. Meanwhile, merchandise imports expanded 0.5% over the same month last year in February (January: -0.1% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 4.2 billion surplus in February (January 2025: USD 3.8 billion surplus; February 2024: USD 1.5 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend pointed up, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 43.3 billion surplus in February, compared to the USD 40.6 billion surplus in January.
