Indonesia: Merchandise exports lose steam in November
Latest reading: Merchandise exports increased 7.1% annually in November, following October’s 9.2% increase. Meanwhile, merchandise imports increased 0.8% on an annual basis in November (October: +19.7% yoy), marking the weakest reading since May 2024.
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 4.8 billion surplus in November (October 2024: USD 2.8 billion surplus; November 2023: USD 3.4 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend pointed up, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 39.9 billion surplus in November, compared to the USD 38.5 billion surplus in October.
