Italy: Economic sentiment turns upbeat in September
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 100.2 in September from August’s 99.0. Consequently, the index stepped above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected improved confidence in the services and retail sectors, plus stronger consumer sentiment. Meanwhile, sentiment in the industrial sector deteriorated, and confidence in the construction sector waned.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index improved.
