Italy: Economic sentiment deteriorates in April
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 95.6 in April from March’s 97.4, marking the worst reading since October 2022. Consequently, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected declining sentiment in the industrial and services sectors, as well as among consumers. Meanwhile, confidence in the retail and construction sectors deteriorated.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index rose in April.
