Italy: Harmonized inflation rises to over one-year high in March
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation increased to 2.1% in March (February: 1.7%), marking the highest inflation rate since September 2023. Looking at the details of the release, housing and utilities prices plus food costs rose at a quicker pace while transportation prices dropped.
Accordingly, the trend pointed slightly up, with annual average harmonized inflation edging up to 1.3% in March (February: 1.2%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 1.9% in March from February’s 1.6%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 1.55% in March over the previous month, picking up from the 0.08% rise recorded in February.
