Kenya: Inflation increases in December
Latest reading: Inflation inched up to 3.0% in December from November’s 2.8%. Looking at the details of the release, price pressures accelerated for food and non-alcoholic beverages, clothing and footwear, and transportation. Conversely, housing and utility costs fell.
That said, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation falling to 4.5% in December (November: 4.8%).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.60% from the previous month in December, accelerating from November’s 0.26% rise. December’s result marked the highest reading since May.
