Korea: Inflation meets Central Bank’s target in February
Latest reading: Inflation came in at 2.0% in February, down from January’s 2.2% and in line with the Central Bank’s target. The reading was driven by moderating price pressures for transportation, food and non-alcoholic beverages, and recreation and culture.
In addition, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.2% in February (January: 2.3%). Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 1.8% in February from the previous month’s 1.9%.
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.32% over the previous month in February, which was below January’s 0.70% increase.
