Latvia: Economic sentiment deteriorates in December
Latest reading: Economic sentiment came in at 98.0 in December, down from November’s 98.5. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The downtick stemmed from weaker consumer confidence. That said, December saw healthier sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors. Moreover, confidence in the services sector remained unchanged in December, and sentiment in the retail sector increased in the surveyed month.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations deteriorated, while the economic uncertainty index increased in December.
