Latvia: Economic sentiment eases in April
Latest reading: Economic sentiment came in at 98.1 in April, down from March’s 98.3. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected muted sentiment in the industrial sector and weaker sentiment in the construction sector. Additionally, confidence in the services sector and among consumers waned in April, whereas sentiment in the retail sector rose in the surveyed month.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index decreased in April.
